Thelo Aasgaard became the first Rangers player to score an international hat-trick as Norway beat Moldova 11-1 on Tuesday.

Ullevaal Stadion hosted Serghei Clescenco's team in the World Cup Qualifiers on 9 September, with Erling Haaland scoring five goals in his 89 minutes on the pitch.

Aasgaard ended the game with four goals for Norway, with the former Luton Town midfielder coming off the bench in the 64th minute.

Russell Martin faces a tough test against Hearts on 13 September, hoping the 23-year-old returns to Glasgow in high spirits, and he may also be bringing a souvenir with him.

Thelo Aasgaard shares match ball with Erling Haaland away from Rangers after Norway vs Moldova

Haaland has revealed that he and Aasgaard will share the match ball after their respective goal tallies against Moldova.

The game against Clescenco's team was only the Gers midfielder's third outing for his national side, and he certainly made an impression away from Ibrox.

One thing that KSI, part of the Sidemen, wondered was whether the Man City centre-forward would be sharing the match ball with his Norwegian teammate.

Haaland posted a picture of himself with the match ball on Instagram on 9 September, and responded to KSI's question by writing: "Mine 1 half ball Aasgaard second half ball."

Thelo Aaagaard in Ibrox starting lineup: Where does he fit?

Ibrox will host Hearts in a crunch league match, which could see the Gers temporarily cut the points gap to three points over Celtic.

Derek McInnes' team have had an impressive start to the season and sit level on points with the Hoops, who are at the top of the table after four matches.

Martin is under extreme pressure at the Light Blues, and the Scottish manager will want his best eleven to start against Hearts.

  • The Gers signed Aasgaard for £3.5million last summer.
  • The playmaker missed the start of the season due to fitness issues.
  • This season, the midfielder has made five appearances for the Light Blues in all competitions.

Nicolas Raskin must return to the Rangers team after being left out of the squad for the Old Firm derby on 31 August, leading to speculation about his future.

While Aasgaard will hope his heroics for Norway will push the 39-year-old head coach to include him in the plans against the Jambos, the playmaker's performances at the Gers haven't really stood out.

Lyall Cameron has done enough this season to cement his place in the number 10 position, with Mohamed Diomande the third midfielder, and the Norway star may have to come off the bench again at Ibrox and put in a similar display.
