Dundee v Rangers controversy as player faces SFA action after Dens Park incident

Dundee striker Simon Murray could face retrospective action from the SFA for trying to deceive the officials during the 1-1 draw with Rangers, according to Keith Hackett.

Murray went to ground after feeling he was pushed by Ridvan Yilmaz when attempting to get on the end of a cross at the back post in the first half of Thursday's (9 January) stalemate at Dens Park.

The Dundee player also had a penalty shout rejected later in the first half, which sparked debate live on Sky Sports, but ex-FIFA official Hackett believes the first of the incidents could land him in trouble.

"It is disappointing the player was not yellow carded for a clear act of simulation in attempting to deceive the referee," Hackett exclusively told Ibrox News.

"Some years ago, the Scottish FA made a decision to take retrospective action on players who were guilty of simulation. This would be one for that review if the Scottish FA continue to take retrospective action."

Regardless of whether Murray tried to deceive the officials or not, nothing can distract from what was yet another poor display from the Gers.

It was not good enough from the Bears and Philippe Clement is surely done at Ibrox. The board's decision to seemingly hold out until the summer is backfiring badly.

As for Murray, he can have zero complaints over not being awarded a penalty. Once he has watched back the replay of the first incident in particular, he will surely be embarrassed.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton made a Clement sack claim ahead of a ball being kicked.
