Bojan Miovski appears to be on the verge of joining Rangers after the striker was left out of Girona's squad against Villarreal.

Rangers supporters will be familiar with Miovski from the striker's prolific spell with Aberdeen before he made the move to La Liga.

The 26-year-old scored 32 league goals across his two full seasons in Scotland, with his form naturally attracting transfer interest from Rangers and Celtic.

However, with Miovski finally set to make the move to Rangers, Derek Ferguson will be pleased, considering his previous comments regarding the forward.

Derek Ferguson wanted Bojan Miovski at Rangers last year

Russell Martin has yet to completely put his faith in either Cyril Dessers or Danilo to lead the line for Rangers, with the former Southampton boss frequently switching who starts up front for him.

However, with Martin already under pressure as Rangers manager, he will be keen to have a striker he is able to hang his hat on as opposed to chopping and changing every game, and it looks like Miovski could be his man.

Before his move to Girona, former Rangers midfielder Ferguson claimed to be a big fan of Miovski, stating that there "is a lot to like" about the striker.

Ferguson also felt the forward would be capable of scoring "30-40 goals" for Rangers when speaking to Ibrox News last summer.

Although it may have come a year later than he wanted, Ferguson will surely be delighted that Rangers look to have secured Miovski's signature, with the former Rangers man previously saying it would be a "no-brainer" to bring him to Ibrox.

Russell Martin must help Bojan Miovski rediscover his form

Although Martin has brought plenty of new faces with him to Ibrox this summer, not all of those moves look to have worked out so far.

Max Aarons and Nasser Djiga have been poor so far, and Gers supporters will be hoping that Miovski will hit the ground running quicker than some of their defensive arrivals.

  • Miovski has struggled since moving to Girona
  • The North Macedonian striker only managed to score two goals in La Liga last season in his 17 appearances

If Martin can help Miovski rediscover his best form, however, then the prospect of the towering striker linking up with the likes of Djeidi Gassama may be the exact thing to help turn Martin's fortunes around in Glasgow.
