Cagliari will look to sell a player before they make a move for Rangers star Cyriel Dessers, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition (16 January, pg 25) that the Rossoblu are interested in the Nigerian forward but could sell Gianluca Lapadula before any deal can be negotiated.

The 30-year-old has found himself on the fringes of Philippe Clement's squad and is said to be seeking an Ibrox exit. [TEAMtalk]

Dessers has featured in 20 Scottish Premiership matches so far this season but has only been given a total of 86 minutes in the last six league games, although he did score in his small cameo against Aberdeen on Wednesday (15 January).

Rangers need to get Dessers off the books

The Gers need to get Dessers off the books as soon as possible so that Clement can reinforce his squad in the winter transfer window.

The Belgian desperately needs signings with the Gers 13 points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the top flight and the season now looking like damage limitation.

The Nigeria international has struggled to secure a place in the starting line-up recently with the form of Hamza Igamane and Danilo.

An exit would be the best move for both parties so that the player can get regular game time and the club can solve their financial issues.

It remains one to watch in the winter transfer window for Bears supporters, with no significant movement yet but there is still plenty of time for something to happen.
