Celtic legend Frank McAvennie is right, Philippe Clement could be in his final days as Rangers manager.

The Gers face Tottenham in the Europa League (12 December) then McAvennie's former club in the Premier Sports Cup final on Sunday (15 December).

Reports have stated that the Belgian could be sacked if the result in the latter does not go his side's way with new CEO Patrick Stewart arriving the day after [3 December, Daily Record]

In an interview with The Sun [10 December], McAvennie echoed these claims when talking about Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, saying: “People talk about him being in trouble if he loses this game but the same could be said for Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

“If he loses to Tottenham then loses to Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final at Hampden on Sunday, the heat will be on him.”

Rangers could sack Clement in the coming days

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Gers part ways with the Belgian after Sunday's cup final if they fail to win.

His side have been miserable so far this season and find themselves 11 points behind league leaders Celtic.

They are also two points behind Aberdeen but have a game-in-hand on the Dons after a mini-recovery, winning their last three league matches.

Clement's side have been better in Europe and currently sit eighth in the league phase, in the final automatic qualification spot for the round of 16.

They have tough matches coming up, however, against Tottenham, Manchester United and Union Saint-Gilloise.

It will take a miracle for Clement to hold on to his job long-term especially if he fails to beat Celtic in his sixth attempt.
