Chris Sutton winds up Rangers fans with immediate reaction to Vanja Dragojevic controversy vs Hibs - 'Very lazy'

Chris Sutton has stuck the knife right in as Rangers' were defeated 2-1 by Hibernian.

The Gers were ultimately undone by a Josh Campbell penalty and Callum Wright's strike at Ibrox on Sunday.

The decision to award to the spot kick against Derek McInnes side was controversial, with Vanja Dragojevic punished after a VAR review, and Ivor Pandur unable to stop it.

Keith Hackett has already shared his view on the call that changed Rangers' fortunes, and Sutton has now revealed how he feels about it.

Of course, the man who often winds up Gers supporters, was up to his usual tricks.

Sutton believes it was a penalty, and he is not having the idea that dragging and pushing in the box happens regularly, so it should not be given.

He labelled that narrative as "lazy" and stated his reasoning as to why it should have been given.

Taking to X on 9 August, the former Celtic man shared his immediate reaction, saying: "Excellent refereeing at Ibrox to award the Hibs penalty. Very lazy when people say 'it happens all the time'.

"Defending player not facing the ball, no intention of playing the ball… just blocking the attacker… correct decision…"

Why Sutton needs to get rid of his bias on this occasion

Sutton is obviously on the wind-up, if that got given against his beloved Hoops, he would quickly change his tune and say it was wrong.

It was six of one and half-a-dozen of the other, as the saying goes, and it should not have been given.

Perhaps the lazy aspect of it all, is Sutton's inability to take off his green-tinted glasses and see the incident clearly.

McInnes and his side will not concern themselves with the Sky Sports pundit's view, they will be more worried about their lack of creativity in the final third.

That was something which Sutton got right after the Dundee United draw, but the time where Light Blues fans may have agreed with him, is now over again.

If we can't agree on the most simple of mistakes, then how are the Scottish FA supposed to do anything about it, and make sure it does not happen again.

Sutton has to put his bias aside in this case, so that the league can eradicate these kind of calls, and appeal to a bigger audience in the long-term.

If Scottish football continues to be decided by terrible refereeing calls then it will turn the neutral away.
