Chris Sutton rages at 'pathetic' Yang Hyun-Jun incident as Rangers lose v Celtic

Chris Sutton raged at what Celtic forward Yang Hyun-jun did as Rangers were beaten in the Old Firm clash on Sunday (3 September).

Speaking on co-commentary on Sky Sports Main Event (1:48pm), the pundit labelled a dive by the South Korean in the second half of the game as "pathetic".

The 21-year-old went on a mazy run towards the box from the right and was tracked by Ridvan Yilmaz all the way before the forward crumbled to the ground and tried to claim for a penalty, with the referee waving away his appeals.

"It's a pathetic dive, by the looks of it, from Yang," said Sutton. "He actually did well initially, twisting and turning."

Also on co-commentary, Kenny Miller added: "I think he twisted himself into the ground, Chris."

Nothing in it

There was clearly absolutely nothing in the challenge from Yilmaz as Yang took a dive in a bid to try and fool the referee into giving him a penalty.

By that point, Celtic had already had enough luck in the game from the officials after Kemar Roofe controversially had a goal ruled out in the first half.

It comes as a bit of a surprise to hear Sutton be so scathing about a Hoops player and it proves that it definitely wasn't a foul if he was so adamant that it was a dive.

Even though that decision did go in the Light Blues' favour, they have plenty of reason to be frustrated about the performance of the officials on the day.

If the Gers had taken the lead in the first half following Roofe's expertly taken strike, then there is a high possibility that the game would have ended very differently.
