Birmingham City boss delivers verdict on Rangers target and Wolves defender Dion Sanderson
Birmingham City boss John Eustace has delivered his verdict on Rangers target and Wolves defender Dion Sanderson this summer.
Per the Daily Record, both Birmingham and Rangers have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old English defender.
Having spent a season out on loan at St Mary's, Eustace has confirmed that he's looking to re-sign Sanderson from the Premier League club.
He said, "We are in the pecking order to try and sign him, but I do know there's other clubs that will want to sign him as well.
"Dion knows what I think of him. I've said on a number of occasions in interviews how much I like him as a player and how much I respect him, if we can get him that would be fantastic."
Battle intensifies
If Sanderson cares about his comfort zone, then a move to Birmingham suits him as he's played there and the manager knows what he can expect from him.
He will have built up a friendship with the players on the team as well so it will be a familiar place to return to for him.
However, if he's got ambitions of playing in Europe and challenging for trophies, a move to Rangers is what he must consider.
The aforementioned report claims at 06:42 that the EFL club are still some way apart from Wolves' valuation of the defender.
Wolves want £2.2million for him excluding bonuses while Birmingham are currently offering just a little over £1.5million.
If Rangers come in with a higher bid and if Sanderson is sold on the project they can sign him ahead of the English side.
