Neil McCann has urged Giovanni van Bronckhorst to drop underperforming Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos.

He believes that Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala have done enough to prove they deserve to start ahead of the Colombian.

McCann wants the Gers boss to have a word with the 25-year-old to get him back onside and firing on all cylinders once again.

He told BBC Sportscene, "Listen, Alfredo Morelos has been off it all season for me. I think he really needs to find a level of fitness that will allow him to operate at the top level and I don't think he is doing that yet.

"I think Gio needs to get that into his head that he needs to improve in order for him to come back and be a lethal goal scorer, which we all know he can be.

"I think [Kemar] Roofe has a legitimate claim to say he should be starting or Fashion Sakala."

Needs improving

Morelos has clearly not been at his best this season and he needs to find his mojo back under the new manager.

It could be down to the fact that he appeared to be angling towards a move away from the club in the summer.

That did not come to fruition and he ended up staying put at Ibrox under manager Steven Gerrard.

After a bad start to the season, Rangers picked up their performances and are now leading the league and have qualified for the next round of the Europa League as well.

The 25-year-old, however, has failed to get his act together and faces the serious risk of being dropped.

He's scored only four goals in 12 league starts - which aren't numbers we expect from a player who's known to be lethal in the penalty area.

Last season, he scored in every other start and that's the least he should be delivering under GvB.
