Jonathan Sutherland has named Rangers stars James Tavernier and Mohamed Diomande in his Team of the Week following their performances in the victory over St Johnstone.

Writing on the BBC Sport website on Monday (19 February), the BBC Sportscene host said it was no surprise to see the Gers captain Tavernier make a big contribution to his side's 3-0 victory on Sunday (18 February) as he took his goals tally for the club to an "astonishing" 120 with his two penalties.

He added that a "stunning strike" from new signing Diomande topped off a "fine midfield display" from the Ivorian as he believes there is plenty for the Light Blues to be excited about from the 22-year-old.

Rangers are flying in the Scottish Premiership

There have been a number of excellent performances from Rangers players in recent weeks and it was the same story against St Johnstone as they cruised to a 3-0 victory at McDiarmid Park.

Diomande set them on their way with a superb effort from outside of the box, while Tavernier showed great composure to score twice from the penalty spot.

The win took the Gers to the top of the Scottish Premiership table and they're going to take some stopping now on the back of their incredible form since Philippe Clement took over at Ibrox.

Rangers
James Tavernier has been amongst the goals again for Rangers this season.

The addition of Diomande in midfield added some more quality to the Belgian's options and he'll be hoping the Ivorian turns out to be a big player for the club.

It was no surprise to see Tavernier add to his goal tally as that took the 32-year-old right-back to 19 strikes for the campaign as he looks to lead his side to the title this season.
