Jonathan Sutherland has named James Tavernier in his Team of the Week following his performance for Rangers against Aberdeen on Sunday (26 November).

Writing on the BBC Sport website on Monday (27 November), the BBC Sportscene host said the Gers captain "handled the pressure point penalty moment well" to earn a 1-1 draw for his side against the Dons.

The 32-year-old right-back stepped up to the spot at Pittodrie after the Light Blues centre-back Connor Goldson was adjudged to have had his shirt pulled, leading to the 94th-minute penalty.

Man for the moment

The defender will probably take the plaudits for scoring the goal, but it was actually also a decent performance from him overall for Rangers.

The captain looked to get on the ball and make things happen as the Gers eventually got the goal they deserved after testing Aberdeen keeper Kelle Roos on a number of occasions.

Although Tavernier missed a penalty in the recent victory over Livingston, he stepped up again in the same game and found the back of the net.

He is the man for the moment and is never going to shy away when the pressure is on as his incredible scoring figures are a testament to.

It was a disappointing result for the Light Blues, but the point keeps the unbeaten run going and could still prove to be vital come the end of the season.
