Andy Halliday reels off three Rangers signings in 'no real ruthlessness' claim after Motherwell win

Andy Halliday has been left frustrated by several Rangers signings after the win over Motherwell.

The Bears edged past Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday thanks to the hard work of Ryan Naderi to tap in for the winner.

However, it could of been two after Djeidi Gassama drew a foul from Tom Sparrow before the break.

In the absence of Lawrence Shankland, who left the field with what Derek McInnes describes as a "significant" hamstring injury, Minsu Kim stepped up, only to blaze his spot-kick wide.

He came close to his first goal for the Light Blues, but so did two other players who joined the club this summer.

Halliday has offered his verdict after the win, and is clearly showing some frustration with his Rangers hat on.

Kevin Kelsy came off the bench to make his debut after a £9million move from Portland Timbers was secured before the deadline.

Daisuke Yokota made his ninth appearance from the bench, also coming close to scoring his first for the Govan side.

While speaking on BBC Radio Scotland after full-time, Halliday vented on the trio, who all came close to scoring.

Halliday said: "I see a lot of promise, but not a lot of proven. Kim, I think, looks really bright, but again, in the final third, no real conviction, no real ruthlessness.

"I think it's the exact same with Yokota, and he's been given a guilt-edged opportunity to get off the mark for Rangers.

"Kelsy got the exact same; Kim got the exact same. Three of them have been given guilt-edged chances to get off the mark for Rangers today."

It's important to add that Kim and Yokota have shown promising signs, as Halliday has alluded to, particularly the former of the two.

There's a reason why McInnes pushed for the pair, and Kelsy may just also need some time to settle in, but he was in the right place at the right time.

Is Halliday's take justified?

Rangers spent big money on Yokota, Kim and Kelsy, with the trio costing just over £20m, before any potential add-ons.

However, it feels like had another goal gone in, the floodgates would have opened, and it wasn't just the three who had big chances.

But Halliday is right to be frustrated, as the trio racked up 1.33 in expected goals between them.

Patience is still needed, though, and there is plenty to be excited about with the new signings.

Rangers racked up a total of 3.93 in xG, and McInnes will be hoping things start to click in the final third soon, but the evidence is there that chances are being created now.
