Alan Brazil shares exactly why Rangers signing Lawrence Shankland will be knocking on Steve Clarke's door
Lawrence Shankland's signing has come with plenty of excitement at Rangers.
The former Hearts striker's move to Ibrox has shown the intent the Gers want to have heading into next season.
Optimism over Shankland's potential success in Govan has been furthered by the arrival of Derek McInnes, who got the best out of the Scottish striker at Tynecastle.
However, on the international stage, Shankland has not had the World Cup he would have hoped for.
The Scotland international started the opening fixture against Haiti, but was subsequently snubbed by Steve Clarke against Morocco.
Rangers' new signing did not see the pitch at all, and Alan Brazil believes Shankland will now be knocking on his international manager's door ahead of the final group game.
Alan Brazil names the one trait Lawrence Shankland has over Scotland teammates
Shankland would have been disappointed to miss out against Morocco, and will undoubtedly be pushing to return to the starting lineup against Brazil.
And for aptly named former Scottish international, Brazil, he believes the Rangers striker will be asking the question of Clarke in the build-up due to holding one quality nobody else has.
Speaking on talkSPORT about the Scotland line-up, Brazil stated: "Who do you play up front, do you play Che Adams again, who is more mobile than Shankland?
"Shankland is the best finisher that Scotland have got in the squad. He's a McCoist job, he can finish, make no mistake. So, he will be kicking Steve Clarke's door in saying 'You've got to play me.'
Ahead of facing Brazil, Scotland could still qualify for the round of 32 even with a defeat.
However, any positive result against the South Americans would drastically improve their odds, with a win guaranteeing their place.
And that could have implications for Rangers' pre-season preparations.
When would Shankland return for Rangers if Scotland reach round of 32?
With the World Cup set to eat into the pre-season training of Rangers - which begins on 25 June - Shankland could miss quite a chunk of the preparations.
With FIFA mandating a 21-day holiday for every World Cup footballer following the tournament, it does provide us a rough estimate of his return date.
If Scotland fail to qualify out of the groups, Shankland could be expected to show up at Auchenhowie roughly around 16 July - 22 days after Scotland's game against Brazil.
But, if Scotland make it to the round of 32, their game could land anywhere between 28 June and 4 July, leaving a Glasgow return anywhere between 21 July and 25 July.
A round of 16 qualification would further extend it to the final week of the month.
Meanwhile, an unprecedented semi-final and final appearance would see Shankland miss the first week of August and the opening game of the Scottish Premiership on 8 August.
Of course, this would also apply to both Findlay Curtis and Liam Kelly, who are also part of Clarke's squad.
