Rangers are ready to pay £1.5m for transfer of Jose Cifuentes after the midfielder was summoned away from Los Angeles FC, according to journalist Mateo Artieda.

Rangers announced Sam Lammers as the latest to join the Ibrox revolution under Michael Beale, with the Gers now completing their fourth of the summer after Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland and Dujon Sterling joined on free transfers.

Cifuentes now looks set to be the next signing through the door following Lammers' announcement and it is believed that Gers boss Michael Beale wants to bring in the Ecuadorian midfielder now ahead of pre-season in a deal which could cost up to £1.5m.

And according to Ecuadorian journalist Artieda [16 June], Rangers would be willing to pay £1.5m for the transfer of Cifuentes and the midfielder was summoned away from the LAFC group Wednesday night [14 June] for his country as he was missing from their latest game.

Taking to his personal Twitter account [16 June], he wrote: "New information indicates that Rangers would be willing to pay £1.5m for the transfer of Cifuentes.

"Cifu was not with his team in the match against the Houston Dynamo. (By summons)."

Getting closer

With Cifuentes likely to follow through the Ibrox doors, fans can already begin to picture what the Rangers squad could look like once the season kicks off again in August.

The Ecuadorian represents a smart and astute addition to a side in desperate need of some cutting-edge play in midfield and Cifuentes certainly provides that in abundance.

Rangers

Full of energy, dynamism and invention in the middle third, Cifuentes is just the acquisition Beale needs to sure up and strengthen his midfield options and his qualities were certainly missed at LAFC as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night [14 June].

The 24-year-old may be seen as an unknown quantity to some Rangers fans, but there's a reason why Beale has identified him as a top target to strengthen his midfield options as the Gers faithful can do nothing but to trust that Cifuentes is the man to provide the spark alongside the likes of January signings Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin who have both settled in brilliantly.

The Ecuadorian is certainly likely to have the same swift effect, especially if Rangers can complete a deal before the start of pre-season - which looks increasingly likely according to the latest updates.
