Rangers must look to tempt Alfredo Morelos amid £2.3m development
Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos could be handed £2.3million to rip up his own contract at Santos, post the club's relegation.
The Glasgow Times reported on 17 December that the Brazilian club's newly-appointed president Marcelo Teixeira immediately acted by releasing the 27-year-old out of his contract on January 1 by activating the release clause.
The striker has been linked with a return to Ibrox and it remains to be seen if it's an option that either party will be considering.
The Colombian's potential departure from Santos, facilitated by a £2.3million pay-off to terminate his contract, could indeed open the door for a sensational return to Rangers.
Morelos left a lasting impact during his six-year spell at Ibrox, amassing an impressive goal tally of 124 in all competitions.
Given his familiarity with the club's style of play, the club's management and the Scottish Premiership, bringing Morelos back could prove to be a strategic move.
