Rangers to hire new manager by next week

According to STV's Raman Bhardwaj, with the takeover finalised, the next step for the owners is to hire a manager.

He claims that it's expected to be done by next week, with a new head/coach manager to be announced.

Barry Ferguson joined as interim manager but did not get the job on a full-time basis.

Rangers final 5 games
Hibernian (A)2-2
Dundee Utd (H)3-1
Aberdeen (H)4-0
Celtic (H)1-1
St Mirren (A)2-2
Ferguson's last five Rangers games.

Bhardwaj wrote on X: "Rangers takeover complete: US consortium takes 51% control. Initial £20m investment via share issue (underwritten by consortium). Expect new manager/head coach to be appointed next week."

Rangers-linked Russell Martin
Martin could get the Gers job.

Martin also makes a compelling case to be Gers boss

Martin would elevate Gers and captivate the Ibrox faithful if he does get the job.

At 39, his progressive, possession-based approach, proven at Southampton with a Premier League promotion in 2024, aligns with Rangers’ ambition to dominate Scottish football.

Martin’s knack for nurturing young talent positions him to unlock the potential of Gers’ emerging stars, such as Hamza Igamane.

His high-pressing, attacking philosophy promises thrilling, dynamic matches that would energise fans, delivering the exciting football they crave.

Martin’s leadership fosters team unity and his experience in high-pressure settings equips him to challenge Celtic’s supremacy and excel in European competitions.

Supported by the 49ers’ £20m investment and Kevin Thelwell’s recruitment expertise, Martin’s appointment could usher in a vibrant new chapter, reigniting Rangers’ storied legacy and restoring their place at the top.
