John Bennett destroyed as BBC journalist Tom English issues £20m Rangers update

Rangers chairman John Bennett has been slammed by Tom English for investing £20million into the Ibrox club.

The BBC journalist was responding to a Gers fan who criticised Bennett for not getting Graeme Souness on the club's board.

This happened in the aftermath of the 3-0 defeat against Celtic in the Old Firm derby on 1 September.

English wrote on X: "A fool? He’s invested over £20m in Rangers. Maybe that is foolish now that I think of it."

Bennett, as the club's chairman, is not just an investor but the architect of the club's strategic direction, including the governance and operational structure that directly impacts the team's performance.
