Rangers have been dealt a financial boost from the SPFL.

The Gers haven't been afraid about splashing the cash since the introduction of Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers.

That started with a sizable spend last summer, before the introduction of 14 fresh faces in the latest window.

There isn't exactly complete contentedness around Ibrox as form always seems to be temporary.

After finishing third last season behind Celtic and Hearts, frustration way at a high.

It appear that failure could be rectified this time around, but could still come with a plus point financially.

SPFL announce payment to member clubs

There have been so many complaints about the lack of funding in the Scottish game over recent years.

The lack of funds from sponsors and over league revenue streams have played a role in the decrease in quality within the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers have struggled in European competition, with not even qualifying for the league phase this season acting as a kick in the teeth.

It finally seems as if things are looking up for the SPFL as record payments have been reported on Thursday.

The announcement details that £49.6million has distributed to member clubs.

That represents an 18 per cent increase, the highest in the history of the Scottish Professional Football League.

Such an increase is put down to additional broadcast income and "strong growth in other commercial areas".

The question that everyone at Ibrox will be asking, how does this all benefit Rangers?

How much could Rangers earn from SPFL payday?

There is no doubt that record revenue for the league organisers is only a good thing for the Gers.

It brings more eyes to the Scottish game, which in turn, could result in increasing funds for years to come.

This announcement features the £49.6m figure which is set to be shared across 42 member clubs.

That would mark a payday of around £1.18m for each side if shared evenly.

The SPFL concern in their statement that fees will be paid through the ladder system which is based on a fixed percentage of fees based on where each club finishes in the league.

That could see Rangers land the third most of any side behind Celtic and Hearts, but an exact figure hasn't been confirmed.

The £49.6m figure will also be utilised across parachute payments, money paid to ScottishPower Women’s Premier League clubs, prize money in the Premier Sports Cup and KDM Evolution Trophy, and facility fees paid in respect of William Hill Premiership

That all dilutes the fee heading towards Ibrox somewhat, but will come as a welcome boost regardless.
