Aston Villa have reportedly entered the race to sign Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo in the summer.

According to the Sun, Brentford and Crystal Palace are also believed to be keen on securing the 25-year-old's services.

It's understood that Gers may be compelled to cash in on him for a fee that could be under £10million.

All Gerrard?

Aribo's road to resurgence begun under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox and the duo shared a very close relationship.

Villa are believed to be looking for midfielders and wingers this summer and Aribo is someone who can play both roles.

Until recently, he's even been deployed as a central striker under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

There's no denying that he's one of the most important players at the club and arguably the first name on the manager's team sheet.

However, the lure of playing in the Premier League has seen many of the league's top managers and players leaving so it remains to be seen what happens with Aribo.

Fans certainly will want to see him for at least another year, but if Villa table a good offer then it may be too good to turn down for Gers.

They've got billionaire owners who are willing to back their manager to take them to the next level.

Aribo will also have just one more year left on his deal and if he's not keen on extending, it makes sense to cash in on him.
