Jonny McFarlane says there will "surely be takers" for Sam Lammers this summer at the price Rangers bought him for last year.

The Dutchman struggled in his first six months at Ibrox upon joining from Atalanta in a deal reported to be worth around £3million [Sky Sports].

While Lammers struggled in Glasgow, he has had better luck since joining Utrecht on loan in January and looks set to leave permanently.

Writing on his personal X account [1 April], journalist McFarlane said: "Turning out to be a very good loan for Lammers - and Rangers.

"Will surely be takers at near his summer price from the Dutch top flight based on form."

Sam Lammers in good form for Utrecht

Lammers' time at Rangers has not worked out for one reason or another and the best option is to offload him in the summer.

While his form in Eredivisie is pretty impressive - he has four goals and three assists in 11 appearances - the Gers cannot be fooled.

Lammers offered next to nothing in the first half of the season, even when Philippe Clement arrived and got more out of every other player.

Rather than wonder if the 26-year-old could yet be a success if used further upfield, Rangers should happily accept a £3m fee if it arrives.

That money can then go towards signing a better player in the final third, such as Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.

It is good to see Lammers getting his career back on track in the Netherlands, and hopefully that now pays off - literally - for Rangers.
