Rangers sources share new chairman update after Malcolm Offord blow

Rangers are still expected to appoint a new chairman in the coming weeks despite the stalled Malcolm Offord move, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The Conservative Party donor was the front-runner to replace John Bennett who was forced to resign earlier this year due to health issues.

The newspaper reported in its print edition [4 December, pg 69] that Rangers sources are still confident that the club will entice a "strong individual" to take over.

Big blow for Rangers ahead of AGM

The club are set to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 5 December, which is a yearly meeting where shareholders and board members gather to discuss issues.

However, they will be without a chairman for the crucial summit, which is a big blow and it remains to be seen when Rangers will have that fully sorted.

Off-field issues have dominated Phillipe Clement's reign in the Ibrox dugout and the latest development is a big setback for both the manager and the club as a whole.

The Belgian is seemingly on borrowed time at the Gers with the club sitting third in the Scottish Premiership behind Celtic and Aberdeen.

The incoming CEO, Patrick Stewart, and chairman were told to end his time in the dugout, but now questions remain about his future with the club, which is back to square one in its search for a new leader.

All eyes will be on Clyde Auditorium tomorrow.
