Rangers have been dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of the Old Firm clash with Celtic after Michael Stewart spotted Borna Barisic hurt.

The Croatian was handed a rare start in the absence of Ridvan Yilmaz, who suffered a muscle injury on international duty, and played relatively well before he was taken off in the 67th minute of the 3-1 victory at Ibrox.

And speaking on BBC Radio Scotland (30 March, 16:34), pundit Stewart remarked that he noticed the 31-year-old holding his hamstring in a major blow ahead of the huge title decider at Parkhead next Sunday.

"It looks like he was holding his hamstring," he said.

"That's why he's been taken off, which may have ramifications for next week."

Rangers injury curse strikes again

How many times this season have Rangers had a fully-fit squad to choose from since Philippe Clement was the manager? The answer is surely zero.

Every game it seems as though there is a new problem for the manager to contend with when it comes to fitness, and Barisic's apparent injury literally couldn't come at a worse time for Gers.

Yilmaz seems like he's likely to miss the game with Celtic due to a muscle injury, while Dujon Sterling was only fit enough for a place on the bench this week too.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement has overseen an excellent turnaround at Rangers.

If Barisic is also ruled out of the game against Celtic then it would leave Clement in a position where he has no natural left-back to choose from for the biggest game of the season.

In an ideal world at least one of the three is fit enough to be relied upon for a full game, but yet again Clement is going to have to wait and see what his options are later in the week.
