Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd praised Vaclav Cerny for his impact at the club ahead of the 3-0 victory against Ross County.

The Gers find themselves in third place in the Scottish Premiership but reduced the gap to second-place Aberdeen to two points with the win with a game-in-hand on the Dons.

Philippe Clement has been under immense pressure in the Ibrox dugout but Cerny has been one of the club's standout performers.

Boyd, speaking on Sky Sports [8 December, 11:05am] before the victory, praised the Czech Republic star's impact for the Gers, saying: "Cerny, for me, sometimes you think to yourself where would Rangers be if it wasn't for him.

"I know its not been a great season for Rangers so far but you look at his impact and what he has brought  to this Rangers team, it's been huge."

Vaclav Cerny has been vital for Rangers

The 27-year-old has been one of Philippe Clement's most reliable players so far this season, despite a disappointing league campaign for the club overall.

The right winger has scored six goals and notched one assist in 13 league matches so far since he moved on loan from Wolfsburg.

The Czech Republic international has also notched three goals and two assists in five Europa League games.

Unfortunately for the Gers, Clement has already admitted that they cannot afford to bring him in permanently when his loan expires.

The club were unable to agree a buy option in the loan agreement therefore it is unlikely that a deal with be struck next summer.

It will be a shame to see a player of his quality leave Ibrox, especially with the turmoil surrounding the club right now.
