What has been said about Jose Cifuentes’ future?
When Rangers sent Cifuentes on loan to the MLS, an option to buy was included in his deal with Toronto FC.
However, after an injury-ridden season, where he did not feature as much as he would have liked, it may appear that the Canadian outfit is looking to negotiate that fee.

Toronto manager Robin Fraser has been speaking about the future of the Ecuadorian, with his comments being relayed by the Daily Record.
Fraser said: “We are in talks with the club, Jose and Rangers about his future.”
If the option to buy was going to be flat-out activated, you would suspect that there would be minimal need for talks. It seemed set that Cifuentes would return to Rangers, but he could now stay in Canada.
However, the Reds may feel they are in a strong position to get a much better deal on their end. Cifuentes is not wanted at Ibrox, and his injuries, which have prevented him from playing since April, have only harmed his value.
Why Cifuentes will want to resolve his future as soon as possible
Cifuentes will likely be looking back at the decision to join Rangers as a pivotal moment in his career, and not in a positive way.
He has made just nine appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Bears and still has one more year left on his contract.
His struggle for game time and now injury in MLS has meant he has been left out of the Ecuador national team for the upcoming World Cup. He previously made 21 caps for Ecuador.
If he were not regretting his career path then, he certainly would be now. Agreeing to a quick exit is best for Rangers and Cifuentes.
