Rangers have started strong in the transfer window, bringing in Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, but that has raised questions over Youssef Chermiti.

The Portuguese forward had quite the successful first season in Scotland, netting 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership.

It was far and away better than what was seen of the 22-year-old during his time with Everton.

Unfortunately, his exploits did not result in silverware arriving at Ibrox, but manager Danny Rohl will be looking to correct that in the upcoming campaign.

Now, ahead of the transfer window, Chermiti is attracting outside interest, but the 49ers will undoubtedly laugh at what is being said about a potential move to Besiktas.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Besiktas are preparing to send an offer for Rangers striker Chermiti as they look for reinforcements.

However, they are currently looking to seal the transfer with a “loan formula”. It is an offer that will surely be batted away instantly at Ibrox, especially after the season the forward has had.

While Lawrence Shankland has arrived as striker depth and competition, Chermiti has proved himself in Scotland, and if Rangers are looking to go one step further, they must keep him, or at minimum, secure a sizeable fee.

An offer for a loan deal will surely not even be considered, and if it does arrive as reported, it is not even worth a response.

Chermiti has quickly become a fan favourite, and supporters will not wish to see him depart any time soon.

Could Youssef Chermiti push for an exit from Rangers?

Chermiti may feel that the arrival of Shankland is disrespectful of the work he has done at Ibrox in 2025-2026.

The Portuguese striker kept up with the Scotsman in terms of goals. Questions will be asked about if Chermiti and Shankland can play together or if they will be constantly rotated.

Additionally, there is also the other question of where will Ryan Naderi fit into the fold? Rohl will certainly not be displeased at having this level of attacking talent.

If Chermiti is not given assurances over his minutes, it would not be a surprise to see him seek an exit.

However, not for the ridiculous loan terms currently being reported in Turkey. It would have to be a record fee for the striker.
