The 49ers may soon be able to pull off a sensational free transfer with Djurgarden’s Oskar Fallenius, who has left the door open on a move to Rangers.

Rangers have been tipped to beat Celtic to sign Fallenius, who has been learning his trade in his home country of Sweden for the past five years.

The 24-year-old is an explosive winger who possesses great chance-creating abilities, as he also knows how to beat a man with pace.

Fallenius’ contract expires in six months, and the winger seems to expect his time with Djurgarden will come to an end in December, as he currently has no one to negotiate with over a new deal.

This is because Djurgarden don’t have a sporting director at the moment, which should only kick the 49ers into action, with a pre-contract agreement possible.

While speaking in a recent interview, the right-winger was asked about his future and was directly quizzed on the prospect of joining Rangers, with Wolfsburg also linked.

Fallenius said, as quoted by the Daily Record: “I know I have an expiring contract, but we don’t have a sports director. So it’s hard to try to think about it.

“My agents and I have decided that I should only be told if there is anything concrete. I just need to think about chewing on it going forward, and whether it is here in Djurgarden or if it is abroad after the summer, I don’t know that yet.”

It seems like Fallenius could be tempted to move on if the right offer came his way, as Andrew Cavenagh and Co. could make some shrewd business by getting a contract agreement before his deal with Djurgarden expires this winter.

While it’s unlikely that Fallenius would sign and be seen as an instant starter, he would offer another strong option from the bench.

That then puts Djeidi Gassama‘s future into question, as the Frenchman usually plays at right wing, if he does start.

There have been suggestions that Gers need to let the former Sheffield Wednesday star go and improve on him in the summer, so if the Bears do bring him competition in the next weeks, it could change the dynamic of things.

Gassama was linked with a move away in the winter window, and that could be the case again this year, especially if a move for Fallenius at the end of his contract.
