Danny Rohl’s demand for ‘leaders’ doesn’t check out amid recent Rangers transfer news
Danny Rohl was revealed to have had an outburst at Andrew Cavenagh recently, demanding that the Rangers chairman gets him “leaders”, but that’s the opposite of what the head coach might get this summer.
This was reported to have happened in the tunnel at Tynecastle after the Bears were beaten 2-1 by Hearts.
Rohl was suggested to be furious, and it is confusing over his decision to banish James Tavernier from the starting lineup for spells this season.
Despite all the uproar surrounding the German head coach, Cavenagh has publicly backed his employee, stating there will be big summer changes regarding transfers.
Rohl wants Rangers to sign experienced players who know how to win titles, but it’s the exact opposite of what Stig Igne Bjornebye is targeting right now.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Rangers are close to signing multiple young players
Rangers have been heavily linked with Dundee FC’s Luke Graham, who may one day be a leader, but the young defender has only had one full season playing in the Scottish Premiership.
Gers also appear to be close to landing the signing of AEK Athens star James Penrice, a Scottish left-back who has only ever won League One with Partick Thistle.
| James Penrice | Stats |
| Games (starts) | 20 (16) |
| Pass accuracy | 82% |
| Big chances created | 2 |
| Duels won | 43% |
| Clean sheets | 6 |
The Light Blues have also been credited with interest in 21-year-old Danish star Silas Andersen, who would cost the 49ers just under £6million, according to reports.
Sunderland’s teenage sensation Finn Geragusyan has been linked with a move to Ibrox, while 19-year-old Akpe Victory has been mooted to join Rohl’s side this summer.
The majority of players that Rangers have been linked with so far are youngsters, so it brings up questions as to whether there are communication issues behind the scenes, but that would come as no surprise.

Rohl was right in thinking the Gers lacked leaders in their squad this season, but with senior figures like Tavernier and others departing, this key factor must be addressed this summer by Cavenagh and Co.
Stig Igne Bjornebye has second audition to prove himself
After the departure of Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell, Bjornebye was given the role of being the transfer guru temporarily, before earning a permanent Ibrox promotion.
He helped bring the likes of Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens, and Ryan Naderi this summer, but the signing of Andreas Skov Olsen will raise eyebrows.
Though some of these additions seemed to make an impact, it wasn’t enough to help Rohl’s side get over the line.
With that said, the real test for Bjornebye will be this summer, as if Thelwell’s tenure was anything to go by, his success will be monitored closely by Rangers supporters.
