Rangers 2026-27: Key dates for supporters to look out for ahead of new season
Rangers‘ 2025-26 season came to an end in disappointing fashion, after a string of successive defeats threw them out of the title race.
Danny Rohl’s side did get back to winning ways on Saturday, though the 5-2 triumph against Falkirk ultimately counted for nothing.
At the same time, rivals Celtic ripped the title away from Hearts, who had led the standings for the majority of the campaign.
The Gers were on a fantastic run heading into the split, before four straight defeats against Motherwell, Hearts, Celtic and Hibs brought an end to the title ambitions.
And with attention immediately turning to the upcoming campaign, Ibrox News takes a look at the key dates for supporters to note.

When will Rangers return for pre-season training?
The date for the pre-season return differs each year, but it tends to sit in the same two-week period.
Last year, Russell Martin had his side return on June 23, before heading to St George’s Park – home of the England national teams – in early July.
| Appointed | In charge until | Matches | Wins | Points per match (league) |
| 05/06/25 | 05/10/26 | 17 | 5 | 1.14 |
Last year, these dates were confirmed on 27 May, with a similar date possible for this year’s confirmation.
Having disappointed at the end of the campaign, Rohl and his side have a lot of work to do over the summer, if they carry ambitions of mounting a serious title challenge next term.
Martin endured a difficult pre-season, and then a difficult start to competitive life last term – something that has to be avoided over the coming months, with Rangers hamstrung after the dismal run of just one league win in seven matches to start the term.
When will the 2026-27 season start for Rangers?
As confirmed back in December, the Scottish Premiership will once again kick off on the first weekend in August.
Coinciding with the 2025-26 term, the final round of fixtures will take place on the weekend of 15/16 May, with the split happening on the weekend of 10/11 May.
Alongside this, the Gers will find out the order of their fixtures on 18 June, with the announcement coming at 12 noon.

After the disastrous start under Martin, Rangers will be desperate to avoid a similar circumstance under Rohl.
Even though their form was bright heading into the split, the term’s early months proved catastrophic, with the eight points put on the board in the opening seven holding Rangers back massively.
What European competition will Rangers be in?
Rangers’ third-place league finish guarantees at least a spot in the second qualifying round of the Conference League, alongside Motherwell, who secured fourth place with their win over Hibs on Saturday.
However, this could well change.
Danny Rohl’s team could yet move into the Europa League if Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic fail to produce an upset in the Scottish Cup final, allowing Celtic to complete the domestic double.

At this stage, Viktoria Plzen, Midtjylland and Tromso are among the teams already confirmed in the Europa League’s second qualifying round.
If Dunfermline are beaten at Hampden, then fifth-placed side and neighbours Hibs would instead inherit Rangers’ place in Conference League qualifying, while the Gers move into the Europa League.
The Scottish clubs will not know whether they are seeded until the complete list of qualifying teams has been finalised.
