Kris Boyd demands Derek McInnes and Lawrence Shankland to Rangers in double Hearts raid

Kris Boyd has urged Rangers to get Derek McInnes and Lawrence Shankland from Hearts immediately.

If the former Gers star were in charge, he would go straight to Tynecastle Park and get the Scottish manager to replace Danny Rohl.

Boyd would also get Shankland to Ibrox with McInnes for good measure, as he places emphasis on the need for domestic success at the Glaswegian outfit next season.

Hearts fell short on the final day against Celtic in the William Hill Premiership as they lost the league title at Parkhead after an impressive campaign under the former Kilmarnock boss.

Andrew Cavenagh has said that Rohl isn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future, but the Govan side may need to think things through ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Danny Rohl issue clear at Rangers

Speaking on The Warm Up on 17 May, Boyd said, “If it’s me, and I’m putting my Rangers hat on here, I would go straight right now and get McInnes in that door, 100 per cent. And I’d also bring Shankland with him as well.”

Rohl failed to deliver when the going got tough at the Gers, losing four games on the bounce after the split.

The Light Blues looked to be in the driving seat in the title race at one point, but the German manager’s lack of experience may have hindered their chances.

Rohl’s decision-making and team selection post-split have come under scrutiny from a large section of the fanbase.

The Govan side’s fans look at what Martin O’Neill achieved at their Old Firm rivals despite Celtic enduring one of their worst seasons and wonder whether the former Sheffield Wednesday boss is cut out for the job in G51.

Derek McInnes may be vulnerable to Ibrox approach

Hearts led the William Hill Premiership for the majority of the season before the final-day heartbreak at Parkhead.

The loss to Celtic will certainly have a mental toll on McInnes and his entire squad and Rangers may be able to entice him to Ibrox right now.

With Boyd also expecting the Jam Tarts to possibly make a change in the dugout and go in a different direction, it may be the perfect time for the Gers to attempt a double raid at Tynecastle Park.

Shankland’s arrival at Ibrox would also be a major boost for the Govan side, who lacked a reliable goalscorer in the 2025-26 season.
