Rangers: Three players that will fear ‘substantial change’ as Andrew Cavenagh issues transfer claim

Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has issued a warning that the upcoming summer window will be one of “substantial change” for the club.

The Gers missed out catastrophically on lifting the Scottish Premiership title after winning just one of their five post-split fixtures. It is a situation the ownership will ultimately want to avoid happening again next season.

As things stand, manager Danny Rohl does not look to be part of the changes set to be made, with the chairman issuing a vow of support for the German.

However, plenty in the squad could be facing the chop in what is promising to be quite the shakeup at Ibrox, with captain James Tavernier already confirmed to be exiting.

Here are the Rangers players that may fear being shown the exit door ahead of next season’s campaign.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Jack Butland to be replaced at Ibrox

Jack Butland has not covered himself in glory at Rangers this season, and his performance against Falkirk on the final day was perhaps an unglowing example of what it has been for the Englishman.

The goalkeeper made quite the comical mistake as he failed to control a backpass, allowing the ball to roll into his own net.

The 33-year-old has had his fine moments in the Bears jersey, but he is capable of those slip-ups, and when challenging for a title, that cannot be allowed.

In truth, Butland must simply be either dropped to number two or replaced entirely before next season, despite 55 appearances in all competitions for the Englishman this season.

Oliver Antman to be shipped out

Oliver Antman only recently joined Rangers, but ahead of next season, his time could already be up. The Finnish winger has a contract until 2029.

Under Rohl, Antman has made just 14 appearances in all competitions, totalling just 522 minutes since the German arrived as well.

Although Mikey Moore is leaving Rangers and the opportunity for minutes may seem positive on the surface, the Gers will no doubt be in the market for wide players in the summer.

Moore could even return if a deal were agreed. Overall, the Finnish international is not well-liked by Rohl, and with the German manager staying, he will likely need to move on during the summer.

Nedim Bajrami to end his Ibrox spell

Similarly to Antman, Nedim Bajrami has found himself on the periphery of Rohl’s plans at Ibrox and has played even less than the Finnish winger.

In all competitions under the Gers manager, the Albanian attacking midfielder or winger has made just seven appearances, equating to just 349 minutes.

The Albanian international has found himself in and out of the squad, with various selections on the substitutes’ bench followed by full exclusion from the matchday squad.

It seems hard to see how he could remain at Ibrox next season, and providing Rohl with better and more trusted options off the bench is an optimal idea for the Gers’ summer window.

Bajrami will more than likely be ending his time in Govan.
