Djeidi Gassama’s goal vs Falkirk could be Rangers parting gift after exit noise
Djeidi Gassama got his name on the scoresheet during Rangers‘ 5-2 win over Falkirk on Saturday, which once again raises questions about his future.
The Frenchman was brought to Ibrox for £2.2million last summer, and was linked with a move to Villarreal as early as the first window he was available for transfer in the winter.
Danny Rohl has worked with the winger at Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday, but the jury is out about his performances for the Light Blues.
Regardless, the 22-year-old added another goal to his tally this weekend, but his future in Glasgow is uncertain amid the 49ers’ plans for a “significant” summer overhaul.
Gassama could leave Rangers this summer, but the question has to go to Gers fans over whether they would be happy to see him go or not.

Djeidi Gassama: stick or twist?
Gassama has obvious qualities to offer Rangers, including pace and directness in the final third.
The former Sheffield Wednesday star has nine goals in all competitions for Gers this season, but hasn’t exactly pulled up any trees in the league.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Games | 38 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Assists | 5 |
| Chances created | 40 |
| Dribble success | 52.3% |
Monaco reportedly offered a loan-to-buy deal for Gassama in the winter window, with the buy option in the region of £10m.
If Gers were offered that fee again it would give the 49ers food for thought now that he’s spent a full season with the Bears.
Andrew Cavenagh and Co. are reportedly planning for “significant” changes at Ibrox this summer, which would require incomings as well as outgoings.

Gassama could and should be one that Rangers look to sell, especially if they can make almost £8m profit on the forward just 12 months after signing him.
Who would Rangers replace Gassama with?
If Gassama was sold, all eyes would be on who Rangers would replace the young forward with, due to his high potential.
Given that Rohl has worked with the forward at two clubs, he may trust him and want him to stay.
Gassama with Sheffield Wednesday:
- Games: 84
- Goals: 12
- Assists: 4
However, if Gassama were to leave, Rangers already have their replacement lined up with Motherwell’s Elijah Just.
The New Zealand international has enjoyed a top season in the Scottish Premiership, and may be available for cheap this summer.
Just was named in the league’s Team of the Season, but would it be harsh to say that Gassama wouldn’t even get in the top five in the division for players in his position?
