Rangers: Danny Rohl has made thoughts on Bundesliga job clear amid new Wolfsburg links
Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has once again been touted as a contender for the Wolfsburg managerial job.
Rohl was only appointed by Rangers in October on an initial two-and-a-half-year deal following Russell Martin‘s disastrous Ibrox tenure.
The German has had a mixed time of things in Glasgow, having initially dragged the Gers back into title contention but ultimately fallen short.
Rangers have lost successive games since the post-split, going down 3-2 at home to Motherwell and 2-1 at Hearts, with Celtic to come next.
Rohl’s future is now looking a little more uncertain, not helped by fresh reports emerging out of Germany.

Danny Rohl emerges as contender for Wolfsburg job
Not for the first time in the past 12 months or so, Rohl has been named as a contender for the Wolfsburg job.
As per a report carried by the Glasgow Times on Thursday, Rohl is at the top of the wishlist of the German club’s chiefs to replace Dieter Hecking.
| Danny Rohl | Rangers record |
| Games | 37 |
| Wins | 21 |
| Draws | 8 |
| Losses | 8 |
| Win rate | 56.76% |
Hecking is set to take an upstairs role at the end of the campaign, regardless of whether Wolfsburg beat the Bundesliga drop or not.
Rohl is a top contender, with the likes of Alexander Blessin, Stefan Leitl, Thomas Reis and Dino Toppmoller also mentioned.

And Rohl’s previous comments on managing back in the top division in his homeland could potentially be bad news for his Gers bosses.
Rohl would jump at chance to manage in Bundesliga
Rohl knows his Rangers job is less secure now than it was just a couple of weeks ago due to the Light Blues throwing away their title opportunity.
This is a season like no other in Scotland, and finishing third to Celtic and Hearts is just not good enough after the money spent.
A lot of that money, of course, was spent under Rohl’s watch in the winter window – even if he did not necessarily sign off on each signing.

But Rohl’s comments from last year, when previously touted with the Wolfsburg job when at Sheffield Wednesday, make for interesting reading.
“If it were up to me, [I would be heading to the Bundesliga] as soon as possible,” he told BILD.
“The Bundesliga is obviously something special because I grew up with it. For me, it’s always about working at the highest level.
“I want to compete against the best teams, with the best coaches. I have the good feeling that I’ve been able to generate significant added value over the last 18/19 months in a demanding league with very different playing styles.”
Rohl pulled no punches in admitting the Bundesliga is where he sees himself – and very soon indeed.
His situation has since changed, given he is now at Rangers, but you do wonder if he would push for the chance to join Wolfsburg should they stay in the German top tier.
