Thelo Aasgaard future at Rangers not secure despite start vs Motherwell

Thelo Aasgaard will still be worried about his Rangers future despite starting against Motherwell in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.

Danny Rohl made a few changes to his lineup at Ibrox on 26 April, with Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti starting up top and the Norway international supporting them.

Mikey Moore was on the bench, but the German manager revealed before kick-off that the decision was down to the English youngster not being fully fit.

It wouldn’t be far-fetched to think that the Tottenham Hotspur loanee would have undoubtedly played from the get-go in the 3-2 loss had there been no concerns about his fitness.

Aasgaard’s future at Ibrox is arguably still up in the air and more clarity will only arrive once the season ends.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Rangers transfer plans bad news for Thelo Aasgaard

Rohl wants Moore back at Ibrox for the 2026-27 campaign and Spurs are well aware of the Gers’ desire to re-sign the youngster.

The 18-year-old has been one of the Glaswegian outfit’s best players this season, coming into his own in G51 since the 36-year-old head coach’s appointment and being one of the difference makers against Motherwell.

Moore came on at half-time and recorded five successful dribbles, had one key pass and had one shot on target, which could have helped the Rohl’s team get a late equaliser.

It isn’t surprising that the Light Blues want the Englishman to return in the summer, but that would surely leave Aasgaard looking over his shoulder.

The 23-year-old attacker has failed to live up to expectations at Ibrox and could possibly continue to struggle for minutes in Govan, despite creating one big chance, playing five key passes, completing one dribble and taking three shots against the Steelmen.

Speaking about Moore prior to kick-off at Ibrox, the German boss said, “Mikey [Moore] was more out in the last couple of days in the training sessions. We have to manage him really well. In the last two days, he comes back better and stronger. He had a little bit of pain in the last 14 days. We need him, not just today, we need him also in the next four games.”

Andreas Skov Olsen arrived at Rangers to much fanfare in the winter transfer window, but he has been a letdown since.

Supporters in G51 had high hopes for the Denmark international, and it’s now clear that the Gers won’t trigger the £8.6million option to buy him at the end of the season.

Rohl seems to have seen enough from the VfL Wolfsburg loanee to know that he won’t be able to have an impact at the Glaswegian outfit.

Skov Olsen has rightly lost his place in the Light Blues’ starting lineup and there can only be one outcome for him in Govan.
