Danny Rohl will prove Rangers’ title credentials if goal frustration avoided in Motherwell clash
Danny Rohl and Rangers still have plenty to prove in their hunt for the Scottish Premiership title, and that will start with Motherwell.
The Gers have been handed a tough set of games in the post-split fixtures, with just two games arriving at home, the first of which is the Steelmen.
We are the stage of the season, where there is little room for error, and on multiple occasions, the Gers have looked like they could slip up against Motherwell.
Pressure will be mounting on the G51 outfit, and whether the squad and manager have what it takes to bring back silverware will become clear.
Now, ahead of Rangers hosting Motherwell, Rohl must show he has learnt from his mistakes if the Gers are to win number 56.

How have Motherwell frustrated Rangers this season?
Rohl has shown signs of fixing Rangers’ lack of goals, but the true test will come against a side that has often frustrated the Gers this season – Motherwell.
Over the two games in the Scottish Premiership under the German, the Gers have managed to carve out plenty of chances against the Steelman but have been limp in attack.
| Rangers’ goals in 2025-2026 season | Total |
| Goals scored | 66 |
| Goals inside box | 55 |
| Goals outside box | 10 |
Rangers generated a combined 5.68 xG in those two fixtures and created 11 big chances but only managed to score one goal.
Now, with the Scottish Premiership on the line, those previous troubles could threaten to diminish their hopes. The improvements in recent weeks have been clear; the Glasgow side have scored 14 goals in their last three matches.
But when facing a team that has proved to be a thorn in your side, that is when the credentials of a title-winning side will truly appear.
Rohl’s side must not allow their previous woes to emerge after seeing such an upturn in the form in the final third.

All eyes will be on Youssef Chermiti
With Motherwell having a history of frustrating Rangers in the final third, all eyes will be on number nine Youssef Chermiti, who is the Gers’ top scorer in the Scottish Premiership.
The Portuguese striker is on a decent run himself as it stands, with four goals and one assist in his last five league appearances.

The 21-year-old, while still in the youth of his career, must show experience beyond his years to push the Glasgow outfit to the title.
It is a lot of pressure on such a young player, but as seen in games against both Hearts and Celtic, rising to that pressure is something Chermiti thrives on.
