Paul Nsio: Rangers talent should get pre-season chance as Raith Rovers loan success continues
Paul Nsio has been enjoying a fruitful loan spell with Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship, which should see him get a pre-season chance with Rangers this summer.
The 20-year-old central midfielder joined Rangers in the summer of 2022, signing from London side Lambeth Tigers and heading straight into Gers’ academy system.
Since then, he’s made three competitive first-team appearances for Rangers, as well as turning out a handful of times for the B side.
However, 2025-26 has seen him take his biggest step into the world of senior football, joining Championship outfit Raith Rovers in September 2025.
With just weeks remaining of the season, Rangers chiefs will be starting to look towards the summer transfer window, as well as their plans for pre-season and who they may want to see more of.

How has Paul Nsio fared on loan with Raith Rovers?
Before joining Rovers on loan, Nsio signed a two-year contract with Rangers, in a clear sign of faith over his potential at Ibrox.
Capable of playing as a six, eight or in the 10, he’s a versatile midfielder with plenty to offer at both ends of the pitch, making him an intriguing ball of clay for coaches to work with.

| Date of birth | 15 March, 2006 |
| Height | 1.81m/5’11” |
| Rangers debut | 30 Aug, 2022 |
However, with so little senior experience under his belt prior to joining Rovers, nobody could’ve been sure how he’d take to life in the Scottish Championship.
It’s a tough, physical division, and those who aren’t up to those demands are quickly found out.
Thankfully, Nsio has taken to it extremely well, and maybe won’t be quite ready for his loan spell to end just yet.
He’s made 29 total appearances for Raith this season, with 22 of those coming in the Championship, where he has provided two goals as well.
As per Sofascore, Nsio has registered a goal conversion of 22 per cent, whilst also recording a passing accuracy of 78 per cent with a 42 per cent cross success rate.
He’s also recovered a whopping 9.4 balls per game on average, completed 54 per cent of his dribbles, won 52 per cent of his aerial duels and has a 50 per cent long ball accuracy rate respectively.
These numbers are very impressive for Nsio’s first extended spell in senior professional football, and has established himself as a key member of Rovers’ squad that has competed towards the top-end of the Championship this season.
What has Raith Rovers boss Dougie Imrie made of Nsio?
So, Nsio’s numbers certainly suggest he’s having a real good time of things in Kirkcaldy, and looks set to return to Rangers this summer a much better player for having had this loan experience.
As a result, he should at the very least be given a chance to impress in pre-season, with the potential to earn himself a first-team role of some sort in Danny Rohl‘s side.
But, what has Raith Rovers manager Dougie Imrie made of Nsio’s time at Stark’s Park, and has he given anything away about just how good the midfielder can be?
Speaking in a recent interview via The Courier, Imrie has waxed lyrical of Nsio, but doesn’t think the Englishman knows just how good he is.
“I don’t think Paul really understands how good a player he could be,” said Imrie.
“He’s got a lot of really good attributes to his game and that’ll [get better] as he gets older; he’s still young, he’s still learning the game.
“But we’ve given him a platform here that he’s embraced. And it’s a credit to himself that he’s managed to force his way into our first-team…I think, as he’s got more confidence, he’s become a lot better as well.
“As time goes on, Paul will get better. Like I keep saying, I don’t think he understands how good he can be.”
