Mikey Moore Rangers stay unlikely despite recent hints – but he can leave a hero
The release of Tottenham’s Life on Loan episode featuring Mikey Moore certainly put a dampener on Rangers‘ parade at the worst possible time.
Whether it was intended or not, it acted as a sobering reminder that he is unlikely to be at Ibrox for much longer beyond the Light Blues’ crucial Premiership title run-in.
Sitting down on a plush couch with a dog at his feet, he looked every inch the relaxed professional he has blossomed into north of the border. But he will know more than anyone that his future is not in his hands, such is the strange nomadic life of some players.
It is not actually known whether he would prefer to stay with the Gers or return to fight for his spot at Tottenham, not that he will have much of a say anyway.
Regardless, Rangers will be determined to keep Moore, if only for one more year, and talks with his parent club are likely to take place at the end of the campaign.

Mikey Moore outstanding at Rangers
There is a reason why Moore has often been hailed as the most talented prospect to progress through Tottenham’s academy since Harry Kane. However, just like the aforementioned England talisman, he has clawed his way to the top the hard way.
His dad compared him to Paul Gascoigne. There is certainly the same fervent, youthful joy in his playing style, a type of freedom which allows him to express himself. When he takes on opponents, it is as though the ball is stuck to his boots with Velcro.

But after arriving at Rangers in August, he endured a nightmare start 400 miles away from home. His performances on the pitch were poor, and he was missing the stable home life needed to balance it out. Indeed, Moore was stuck living out of bags in a hotel for a month.
He can still recall two underwhelming showings like they were yesterday. In September, he was dragged off twice in a fortnight, in a 2-0 defeat by Hearts at Ibrox and then in a 1-0 Europa League loss against Genk. The first fixture saw him berated by the crowd.
It was both a wake-up call and a brutal lesson in how tough the sport can be at its sharpest end. Since then, though, Moore has settled in at Rangers and looks undroppable.
He has made 42 appearances in total, scoring six goals and registering three assists.
Once a raw teenager, he now looks accomplished in a notoriously difficult and demanding environment. There is a reason Spurs’ head of pathways and loans, Andy Scoulding, nicknamed the pressure cooker atmosphere the “Ibrox Factor”. It can make or break a player.
Fortunately for Moore, he has followed the first path. Scoulding took a calculated risk, knowing that he had to be tested at an elite level in order to turn into an elite player. It was the saying about diamonds and pressure brought to life, and it has paid dividends.

After his baptism of fire, Moore became a regular in the starting XI. Having lit up Ibrox, he has set his sights on an even bigger target: conquering the world.
“I believe in my talent and I believe I have the ability to do it,” he told The Athletic. “I know I’m going to work my hardest to get there. A lot of it is about the mentality you bring to games. It’s always been my dream to be one of the best players in the world.
“Why be scared to say it?”
Can Rangers re-sign Moore?
But while Moore has been stealing the headlines for all the right reasons, Tottenham’s slump toward the Premier League drop zone has also landed them on almost every back page.
Roberto De Zerbi was appointed as the club’s third head coach already this season, but with two points separating them from safety, the risk of tumbling into the Championship is very real. The crisis is not of Moore’s making, but he will have to deal with the repercussions.
Not that the sheer magnitude of the challenge has put him off. Moore recently admitted that he occasionally wishes he could return to help out his old colleagues.

That served as another signal that the end of his spell at Ibrox is rapidly approaching. While he is open to continuing his stay, the odds are stacked against it. Moore has developed sufficiently at Rangers and now looks ready to replicate his magic for his parent club.
When he does leave, it will be tinged with sadness.
“I’ve thought about this already. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the summer but if it plays out that I’m not going back it’s going to be really tough as I do genuinely love the club and this city,” he told The Athletic. “I have made a connection with the fans.”
Rangers, though, will be desperate to send him on his way with much more than well-wishes, with the Premiership title now tantalisingly within their grasp.
