Charlie Adam is spot on, Rangers have yet to see Youssef Chermiti at his best but signing has been a success
Charlie Adam has dropped an insight into Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti, having worked with him at Everton.
The Portuguese striker has been hit-or-miss this campaign, but despite that, he has popped up in crucial moments for the Gers.
There were heavy expectations placed upon the forward’s shoulders, with his £8million price doing little to help in that department.
In the early stages of Russell Martin’s tenure, it seemed the Bears had made the wrong decision over Chermiti.
However, the arrival of Danny Rohl in October has since changed the landscape for the 21-year-old as Rangers’ title run-in looms.

What has Charlie Adam said about Youssouf Chermiti?
For many, the jury may still be out on Chermiti, who has gone through long spells without scoring for Rangers this season.
At 21 years old, the striker still has vast inexperience in football, and that has been evident plenty of times this season.

| Goals | 11 |
| Game-winning goals* | 2 |
| Equalising goals | 3 |
However, for those who know Chermiti better than most, that is not too much of a concern, with Adam now chiming in.
Speaking about Chermiti via the Daily Record, Adam said: “Of course, we’d expect him to get at least 15 to 20 goals a season at Rangers. But for his first year, I think he’s done OK. He can improve, absolutely.”
The former Scotland international is absolutely spot on; Chermiti has done ‘OK’ and, at a bare minimum, enough this season to at the very least be counted as a small success.
In the Scottish Premiership, the Portuguese player has netted 11 goals and provided three assists, whilst only starting in 15 of the 33 games available.
Additionally, his minutes played for the Gers only equal the total of 17 matches. In that context, a tally of 14 goal contributions in 17 matches is an excellent return on investment.

However, Adam is also right that Chermiti can improve, and simply, he must. If Rangers are to win the league title, they will need the 21-year-old to step up and do so in a big way.
That should not be too much of a problem, as the former Everton striker has often produced in the big games for the Ibrox outfit.
Youssouf Chermiti’s biggest improvement must be consistency
11 goals is certainly not a terrible return for Chermiti, but when looking at when he scored those goals, it offers a slightly bleaker outlook.
In 25 total appearances, those 11 goals have come in just six games. When Chermiti scores in a game, he often does so more than once.

It is not a terrible trait to have, and goal difference is important, so stacking goals in single matches can help, especially when he has done so against Hearts and Celtic.
But if each of those 11 goals came in 11 different games, they might have had more impact on the Scottish Premiership title race.
The next step for Chermiti is to start being more consistent and less hot-and-cold, with a much-needed break setting him up for a huge end to the season.
