It has been tough for Youssef Chermiti at Rangers since making the move from Everton in the summer.

The forward has not exactly been a roaring success so far, scoring just four goals in all competitions after making his £10million switch.

However, performances over recent weeks have started earning Chermiti his fans in Govan, and it looks like he is starting to settle in.

The Portuguese striker scored twice against Celtic as Rangers picked up a 3-1 win against their Old Firm rivals and later impressed for his role in the Gers goal against Ludogorets.

However, the recent turnaround has not stopped the club from bringing in an alternative option for centre-forward as Ryan Naderi inches closer to joining Rangers.

Although, that looks to be in place of the outgoing Danilo rather than a move made with Chermiti in mind.

Fenerbahce readying second Youssef Chermiti bid

Rangers were open to selling Chermiti this month, but recent displays have seemingly changed opinion in G51.

According to Turkish outlet A Spor, the Turkish club are still trying to sign Chermiti, with a second bid expected to be sent.

However, as of now, Rangers view Chermiti as not for sale, so it would take quite the offer to change that perception.

With so little time left in the window, allowing a key player to leave amid a title race would not be a smart move for the club.

What Danny Rohl has said about Youssef Chermiti in the past

Danny Rohl is a big fan of the qualities that Chermiti brings to this side, and that's evident by his high praise after his double in the Old Firm.

The German was quick to highlight the key traits that the 21-year-old can bring to his side, and it would seem odd if he allowed him to leave so late in the window.

He said: "He worked so hard for the group, and he’s smart. I think you saw that today, and he was also very aggressive with his body.

“He can keep the ball, he can carry the ball. Sometimes for the forward you need this momentum.

“He started last week with some good actions, and today he continued. He was outstanding in one-against-one situations."

  • Youssef Chermiti signed for Rangers for £8million
  • He has played 25 games for the Gers in all competitions
  • Chermiti has scored four goals and provided two assists
  • This includes four goal contributions in his last six league appearances

Now, after proving himself to fans and to his manager, Chermiti has to continue the good work he is laying down.

What looked to be a disastrous move early on has been turning into a positive transfer, but only if this is the start of a prolonged successful spell for Chermiti.
