Rangers have failed to move quickly in the January transfer window.

Despite Danny Rohl demanding swift action from Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises, it appears the first week will pass with no arrivals.

Thankfully, things on the pitch at Ibrox are much better.

Rangers beat Celtic 3-1 on Saturday and welcome Aberdeen to Govan on Tuesday, looking to go three points behind Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

Emil Bohinen appeared close to joining Rangers, but things just got complicated.

Emil Bohinen twist out of nowhere for Rangers

Bohinen was warming to the idea of a move to Scotland.

But, as these things tend to do in the transfer window, they move quickly, and an outcome can change within a matter of hours.

Quotidiano Sportivo now report that Bohinen is now set to move to Spezia in Italy, with an obligation to buy included in a January loan.

The Italian outlet has revealed that the English-born midfielder has been convinced by the management plan of Spezia, making a move to Rangers very unlikely.

Bohinen was at Venezia for the first half of the season, on loan from Genoa, but appears to be packing his bags for pastures new again.

Rangers laughing after ill-advised Bohinen snub

If there was ever one seed of doubt in the mind of Bohinen, then he was never welcome at Ibrox in the first place, with bigger fish to fry.

Rangers are now favourites ahead of Celtic to sign Silas Andersen from BK Hacken, proving that transfers wait for nobody.

With Bohinen now off the table, Stig Inge Bjornebye has moved quickly for an even bigger target, with Anderson previously wanted by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

If that deal can get done, nobody will even remember the links to Bohinen.
