Rangers supporters are set to be raging again as Kevin Thelwell oversees another key hire at Ibrox.

Thelwell has hardly endeared himself to Rangers supporters, with several decisions coming under the microscope since he was appointed as sporting director.

Thelwell hired his own son as Rangers' head of recruitment, in a move that was seen as nepotism by many.

He has also appointed allies from Everton and Wolves to key roles, which has incensed Light Blues supporters.

Rangers line up Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart ally for key role

Rangers are looking for a director of football operations, to work alongside the likes of Thelwell and Patrick Stewart in Govan.

A report from the Scottish Daily Express on 10 November claims that the Gers are considering David Harrison for the role.

It states that the former Everton and Manchester United executive, who has worked with the Gers duo in the past, is a frontrunner for the Ibrox post.

Surely time is up for Thelwell at Rangers?

Thelwell has gone beyond parody at this point, his constant hiring of people he already knows from the world of football is simply baffling.

The changes that he has made have not worked, and Danny Rohl is paying the price, with the season already looking like a right-off, even though it is only November.

  • Rangers are 12 points off the top of the Scottish Premiership
  • They are bottom of the Europa League league phase after four matches
  • Their only real chance of a trophy is the Scottish Cup

Thelwell's record in the transfer window has been miserable, with only Djeidi Gassama and Mikey Moore being the only players from the 12 that he signed that have made a positive impact.

The decision to sanction an £8.5million deal for Youssef Chermiti, a striker who has not scored in his whole career on Merseyside, should have seen Thelwell dismissed on the spot, but he has kept his job.

The 49ers Enterprises group have backed the ex-Everton man so far, but surely, if the fans turn against him fully, time will be up for the 52-year-old.
