Findlay Curtis has been one of the few positives of Rangers' season so far, with the youngster enjoying a stunning breakthrough into the first team.

The teenage winger has had a sensational start to the season despite Rangers' struggles under Russell Martin, and he clearly has a bright future ahead.

Curtis has been a bright spark in an otherwise dull Rangers attack, and the 18-year-old has developed further after initially making his debut under Barry Ferguson last season.

Scotland's under-21 side called up Curtis for action in the International break, but the winger faced disappointment over the team selection, which his manager will now regret.

Scotland Under-21s snub Findlay Curtis in Czechia defeat

Scotland's under-21 side were in Under-21 Euro qualification action against Czechia in Uherske Hradiste, but Curtis was snubbed from the starting eleven by manager Billy Stark.

Stark, previously a Celtic player, left Curtis out of his starting lineup despite his good form, opting to use Grimsby Town winger Cameron Gardner on the left, and Hearts starlet James Wilson on the right.

  • Gardner has failed to score in six matches in English League Two this season, and is a year older than Curtis.
  • Wilson has also failed to score in three Scottish Premiership matches so far, and is typically a centre-forward.
  • Curtis has scored in the Premiership, the League Cup and the Champions League qualifying rounds.

Scotland fell to a 2-0 defeat, with goals coming in the 22nd and 71st minutes, before Curtis came on as a substitute in the 77th minute.

Findlay Curtis deserves more Scotland gametime

Ally McCoist recently slammed the lack of top-quality Scottish players at Rangers, but when their best talents are not recognised, it is easy to see why they may opt to move to England instead.

Curtis has stood out in a struggling team in the Champions League, but was snubbed for a winger in League Two.

Scotland offered little in attack as they were beaten by Czechia, and they may regret leaving Curtis out of the starting lineup.

Stark's side will face Portugal under-21s next on September 9, and Curtis will hope to start that match to prove his manager wrong.
