Jim White shares what he’s been told about Russell Martin crisis at Rangers – ‘I heard this morning…’
Russell Martin is under huge pressure at Rangers, with many fans now demanding his exit after just four league games.
Martin was an unpopular appointment at Rangers from the moment he was linked with the job, and has failed to win any of his four league games in charge.
Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Celtic was an improvement on recent performances, but was still dire going forward, and boos rang around Ibrox at full-time.
Transfer presenter and Rangers fan Jim White has now spoken about Martin’s future at Ibrox, and there has been a development within the last two days.

Jim White questions Russell Martin’s future at Rangers
Rangers fans are already eager to see Martin dismissed after a woeful start, and there were banners at Ibrox calling for his exit after the Old Firm draw.
Speaking on talkSPORT, White questioned whether the draw with Celtic would have given Martin any credit in the bank.
“I heard this morning that there were a few flags raised among Rangers supporters, saying ‘Martin and co must go.’ Does this result do anything for him?” White stated.
- Martin is yet to win in the Scottish Premiership, with four draws in four games.
- Rangers are out of the Champions League after a 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge.
Scottish Sun reporter Bill Leckie then highlighted the complete disdain shown towards Martin from the Rangers fanbase.
“Russell Martin waited at the side of the park to shake hands with each player as they came off, and there was applause for them. When the last player went down the tunnel, Russell Martin turned to follow them, and there was a huge round of boos from the Rangers fans,” Leckie revealed from what he saw at Ibrox.
“I have never seen from the outside, a manager who has had less support from the supporters from day 1, as Martin has, they’re just not having him.”
Rangers fanbase united against Russell Martin
Martin has managed to do what no Rangers manager has in years, in completely uniting the fanbase, but this is because he has no supporters left among the Rangers faithful.
The disastrous start to the season, as well as Martin’s tactical ideas and abrasive personality, has meant that there would be widespread delight if his time at Rangers was brought to an early end.
Erik ten Hag’s early sacking at Bayer Leverkusen has shown that it is not impossible to sack a new manager so early on into their first season, but it is clear that the Rangers fanbase will not accept Martin, even if he had beaten Celtic on Sunday.
