Rangers have just received a huge update in their bid to sign Oliver Antman from Go Ahead Eagles this summer.

The winger was electric for the Dutch side last season, as he ended the Eredivisie campaign with an impressive six goals and 15 assists to his name.

Rangers have been closing in on a multi-million pound move for Antman, and they could be about to pay a fee in excess of £5.2million, having already had a bid accepted.

Russell Martin's side have already had a hugely busy summer in the transfer market, but the 23-year-old could become the latest to join the ranks in Govan imminently.

Antman left out of friendly ahead of Rangers move

Martin was furious with Rangers' display in their season opener on Saturday (2 August), as they conceded late to draw with Motherwell away from home.

It was a frustrating start to the domestic campaign, following a positive result in their European tie, and it will have left the boss in no doubt that further additions to the squad are still very much needed.

The 39-year-old could be about to land the extra firepower that he desperately needs, following a huge update from the Netherlands.

Go Ahead Eagles are set to line up in the Dutch Super Cup final at 5pm (3 August), as the national cup winners aim to down reigning league champions PSV Eindhoven.

It will be the first competitive action of the summer for the Deventer-based outfit, and their boss Melvin Boel has just dropped a huge hint as to where Antman's future could lie.

Their star man has been left out of the matchday squad for their crucial encounter, which surely indicates that a move to Ibrox is all but confirmed.

Antman would be a great signing

The Finnish international only joined Go Ahead Eagles from Nordsjaelland last summer, but he has already established himself as one of the Eredivisie's brightest talents.

The recent exploits of both Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama mean that the Gers already have quality options on the flanks, but they could be about to get even stronger.

Antman appears to be a player who would be capable of immediately coming in and having an impact, as well as becoming one of the key players within the side.

His attacking output has been hugely impressive, and at 23, he has plenty of time to develop into a player of real value at Ibrox.
