Rangers are closing in on the signing of Go Ahead Eagles star Oliver Antman.

The Gers were looking to strengthen the right-hand side of their attack this summer, with Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sakyi heavily linked with a move.

However, Antman looks set to become Russell Martin's ninth signing already, as he looks to build a squad capable of seriously challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership.

Preparations are underway for the Gers' Champions League second qualifying round second leg against Panathinaikos, in which the Scottish side take a 2-0 lead.

Antman will miss Rangers' Champions League tie with Panathinaikos

The Daily Record (27 July) has reported that the signing of Antman could be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours.

However, even if the arrival is completed in that timeframe, the wide man will not be available from the off for the Ibrox club.

Antman will be ineligible for the second leg against Panathinaikos due to UEFA's registration rules, as players need to be registered before the start of each round.

The Finland international's debut is likely to come at the weekend, as Rangers begin their league campaign with a trip to Motherwell on Saturday evening.

Antman will be a creative menace in Scotland

The Gers have been in the market for wingers this summer, as they look to add creativity down the flanks to supply service to the strikers.

Antman brings a different dimension to the Rangers' attack, having proven his creativity last season with a very impressive 17 assists across all competitions.

The jump between the Eredivisie and the SPFL shouldn't be too difficult, and the winger could be set to take Scotland by storm, as Martin's side look to catch up to Celtic.
