Rangers ‘to seal great business’ with double £20m-plus exits – Exclusive

Rangers discovered more than just their frailties from their pre-season friendly with Club Brugge.

The Gers came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw with the Belgian side at Ibrox, with Russell Martin making definitive changes at half-time.

Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers were absent from the Rangers squad, in what was a telling day for their futures.

Both have strong interest from European clubs, and it looks increasingly likely they will leave Ibrox this summer.

Rangers to make substantial profit from Dessers and Igamane

Ibrox News understands that Igamane has confirmed his intention to join Lille, although a deal has not been sealed yet.

As for Dessers, he has reportedly agreed on personal terms with AEK Athens, but like his teammate, a deal is yet to be reached.

The Gers could bank over £20million for the pair, and football finance expert Dan Plumley has provided insight while speaking exclusively to Ibrox News.

“Those valuations are good valuations in the context of the market,” he said.

“You’re looking for other comparable numbers, as always, but it’s a market that, with that Scottish league, they’re not huge fees ultimately.

“Celtic and Rangers will be the ones that will buy and sell at those kinds of levels.

“If you look back to January, there was only Celtic that paid a fee for somebody, which was around £8million for one player.

“If you get two out the door there for £20million, then I think that looks like good business for Rangers in the context of what the market dictates at that level.

“Of course, then that opens up the door for what do you want to do with with that space that it frees up, and it’s not necessarily the case that they’ll get all of that money up front, as we know nowadays, but it’s another two that will also leave the wage bill.

“It frees up some room to do other things, and with the new investment coming in over the top, so I think if those figures are anywhere near correct and that ends up being the total price for those two players, I’d say that’s pretty good in the context of where the market’s at for Scottish football.”

49ers must replace Dessers and Igamane with quality

Losing Dessers and Igamane in the same window may generate large funds, but it will leave a gaping hole in Martin’s attack.

The pair contributed 30 league goals between them last season, and it is no wonder they have garnered serious interest.

If they do bank up to £20million for the duo, then that will go a long way to helping Martin stamp his mark on the Glasgow club.

However, the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh must make sure they spend that money wisely and on proven goal scorers.
