Hamza Igamane will be a player on the radar of several clubs this summer.

Rangers have a remarkable amount of work to do this summer if they are to start competing with Celtic once again at the summit of Scottish football.

After another trophyless campaign last time out, the Light Blues must avoid that in the new season, though their ability to do that will largely hinge on the business they conduct this summer.

A handful of players will almost certainly leave Ibrox, and Igamane could be one of them.

AFCON could disrupt Rangers' plans

Last season, there was very little to shout about for Rangers, though the form of Igamane certainly brought more optimism than pessimism.

The Algerian forward caused problems every time he stepped on the pitch, and it would have been a much worse season had it not been for his goals.

However, with Algeria already qualified for AFCON, it feels almost inevitable that Igamane will be called up to their squad, missing a whole host of Rangers fixtures as a result this winter.

Igamane's stock is very high at the moment, and if Rangers were to sell, the likelihood is that they would receive a decent fee for his exit, and that could be huge for their hopes of rebuilding their squad.

His absence over December would be a huge blow, and to cash in on him and sign a player who will be readily available throughout the entirety of the campaign may appeal to the Gers.

Martin needs funds to build his Rangers squad

The current Rangers squad is strong, but is severely lacking in several areas, especially after the exit of Vaclav Cerny.

If Martin is to succeed at Ibrox, it needs to be with players capable of playing his style of football, and to do so, Rangers will need to back him this summer.

The Light Blues must make the right decisions this summer; otherwise, it could be another campaign full of misery.
