Rangers transfers: £7m claim made on Konstantinos Karetsas
David Edgar has issued a verdict on Rangers signing Greece midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas this summer.
The 17-year-old starred as Greece secured a 3-0 victory against Scotland in the Nations League on Sunday, 23 March.
The Racing Genk midfielder was among the goal scorers at Hampden Park.

Given the teenager’s blistering display at Hampden, Scottish fans who support Gers were certainly impressed by his talent.
One of them even suggested to Edgar, the Heart and Hand podcast host, that the Ibrox outfit should be looking to sign him.
However, he does not see the club getting near the Greece international for a plethora of reasons.

Initially, he does not think that he’ll be available for £7million and also mentioned that Inter, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs keen on securing his services.
He wrote on X: “I don’t think we’d be getting near Karetsas. Despite what commentator said, he’s not leaving Belgium for £7m.
“Clubs like Inter, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid all said to be interested.”

Karetsas would be a superb addition to Gers, bringing versatility, tenacity and technical skill that perfectly suit the Scottish game.
At 17, the midfielder’s capacity to control games and shore up the engine room while also offering a goal threat – would thrill Ibrox faithful and boost Rangers’ Europa League and SPFL ambitions.
Yet, Karetsas’ upward trajectory points toward elite Champions League sides like Bayern Munich or PSG, where his high transfer fee and hefty salary could strain Rangers’ budget.
Rangers should instead tap their scouting network to uncover hidden talents, such as a £5million prospect from Scandinavia or Eastern Europe, prioritising long-term value and sustainability over a fleeting pursuit of a star bound for greener pastures.
Once the takeover advances further, it will become clearer who the decision makers will be in the transfer window.
It’s important to start planning for the transfer window as it’s a decisive one and they would not want the gulf to expand with rivals Celtic.
