Rangers ‘need £40m for revamp’ after 49ers takeover gurantees emerge

Rangers will potentially need £40million for a revamp as guarantees have emerged from the 49ers Enterprises possible takeover.

Ibrox could be set to welcome the 49ers soon as the American consortium looking to buy the Gers are closing in on an agreement.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe could make their way to the Light Blues in time for the start of next season.

With the possible takeover on the horizon, there will be expectations of massive investment at the Glaswegian outfit in the coming future.

49ers Enterprises need to fund Rangers revamp

Cavenagh and Marathe will need to spend around £30m to £40m to rebuild the Bears, Stevie Clifford says.

The Four Lads man believes significant money will need to be spent judiciously in order to turn things around at the Gers.

Speaking on Four Lads Had A Dream (3 March), Clifford said: “It’s not an easy thing, but those guarantees of final investment and investment in the squad doesn’t need to be £100m. If we’re being realistic, it needs to be £30m, £40m region and spent properly. Rangers need a massive revamp come this summer, and it has to be funded.”

Ibrox needs investment from 49ers Enterprises

Marathe has seen a sea of change at Leeds United since the 49ers’ takeover of the West Yorkshire outfit.

The Championship outfit have seen their prospects improve under the American owners and look set for Premier League promotion.

With the uncertainty in the Gers’ hierarchy over the last few years, it is arguably essential to have people come in and stabilise the Glaswegian outfit.

A hands-on approach is seemingly needed to get the Light Blues back on track to competing with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bears are 16 points behind their Old Frm rivals after losing 2-1 to Motherwell at home on Saturday (1 March).

Barry Ferguson’s arrival was meant to change the mood around Ibrox to a certain extent, but the interim manager hasn’t had the desired effect so far.

The Gers have made some questionable decisions regarding their transfer activity in recent years by allowing several players to leave for next to nothing, and that needs to change sooner rather than later.

Cavenagh and Marathe will likely be tasked with hiring a new manager as well as buying better players next summer, and that will arguably require a lot of money.
