Ianis Hagi expected to quit Rangers after what’s been seen at Ibrox

Ianis Hagi has been tipped to leave Rangers at the end of the campaign after what has been seen up close at Ibrox.

The Romania international started the season on the outside looking in amid a farcical stand-off regarding his contract.

Hagi, having reached an agreement with the Gers, soon got his chance under then-boss Philippe Clement and has since become a regular in the side.

However, Hagi has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce in the summer and is already free to open to talks with clubs abroad.

Derek Ferguson expects Hagi to leave Rangers

Hagi’s contract at Ibrox expires in June and, as things stand, there appears to be little movement in terms of getting the 26-year-old to stay on.

And in the view of player-turned-pundit Derek Ferguson, speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Hagi will likely exit Glasgow in a few months’ time.

The player has previously said he is happy at Rangers, but Ferguson’s verdict is based off a hunch from what he has himself seen up close at Ibrox.

“It was a mess what happened earlier in the season in terms of his contract and not playing him,” Ferguson said. “Again, this all comes down to finances – Rangers have been struggling.

The club came to some sort of agreement with him and I wouldn’t have been too happy with it if I was him.

Ianis is saying all the right things, and I genuinely think he has a love for Rangers, but I don’t think he wants to stay.

I just see these things during games. Look at the Queen’s Park game when he was hooked with 25 minutes to go and a goal needed. Yeah, I think he’ll go.”

Which clubs want to sign Hagi from Rangers?

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, who Rangers face next in the Europa League, appear to be the frontrunners for Hagi’s signature.

However, fellow Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray, as well as Serie A side Genoa, have also been credited with an interest in Hagi.

In the view of most Rangers fans, losing the Romanian will not exactly be devastating on the basis of his performances of late.

At the same time, it will mean another player has to replaced in the summer in what is shaping up to be another period of rebuilding.

It does look as though an exit is the most likely outcome, though, and hopefully plans will already be in place with regards to finding that replacement.
