Ianis Hagi ‘bombarded’ with transfer offers after Rangers contract development

Ianis Hagi has a ‘high chance’ of leaving Rangers on a free transfer when his existing contract expires at the end of the season.

The Romania international was frozen out due to a contract dispute at the start of the season but has since established himself as a regular again after being brought back into the fold.

Hagi has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 19 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far this season and has continued as a starter under Barry Ferguson after he replaced Philippe Clement.

However, there are serious doubts about the 26-year-old’s future at Ibrox as his current deal runs out in the summer.

Fenerbahce in fray to sign Hagi

Talks over a new contract have taken place at Ibrox, but they have now been blocked due to Hagi’s financial demands, according to ProSport.

Therefore, the Romanian has a ‘high chance’ of leaving Rangers as a free agent, with several major clubs in Europe keeping tabs on his situation.

The Romanian news outlet reported via their website on 2 March that Hagi is already being ‘bombarded’ with offers as he looks set to leave the Gers for free.

Italy and Turkey have been mooted as potential destinations for the attacker, with Fenerbahce said to be in the fray to acquire his services.

Hagi to feature in Fenerbahce v Rangers

Talk of Fenerbahce being interested in signing Hagi on a free transfer comes just days before the Turkish giants host Rangers at home in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie on Thursday, 6 March.

Hagi is likely to feature for Ferguson’s side and will, therefore, get a taste of Turkish football and the fans there when the Light Blues travel to Istanbul.

It is worth noting that the former Fiorentina ace is yet to play for the Ibrox outfit in the Europa League this season as Clement did not include him in his squad.

However, Hagi was included when Rangers announced their renewed squad for the tournament in February.
